Aquilegia vulgaris "Magpie". Hardy perennial - height 60cm.
Almost black and black and white flower combination are uncommon but have great appeal for many gardeners and cut flower arrangers. Now Magpie with its striking 5cm bi-coloured blooms of contrasting pure white and dark, velvety maroon blacks, adds another dimension. A unique variety resembling a Granny's bonnet straight from a 19th century costume.
When to sow:
Late Summer, Autumn and early Winter. In cold areas again in early Spring.
